General guidelines for use of my subs and translations  
 

Please don't consider these "rules", but more a common courtesy towards a person that has spent time in putting together and sharing this material.

First I would like to thank you for all the comments, feedback, and support (^^) In my lurker days I could never have imagined how much a simple "thank you" could make someone happy.

I apologize for any mistakes, be it in Japanese-to-English translation or in my English itself. I do my best in order for my translations to be as accurate and error-free as possible.

Some of my translations (only the Johnny's-related ones) may be posted in Italian in [info]nantokanarusa (though I haven't posted anything there yet XD).

Suggestions and constructive criticism are very much welcome regarding anything. If there is something, anything, you don't like about any part my work, please express yourself in this journal (^^)
Please keep in mind that neither English nor Japanese is my first language (or second, or third for that matter XD), so, as much as I love perfect work and detest flaws, I figure there's bound to be some mistakes. I hope you can be patient with me (^^;;)

>sharing:
I don't mind people sharing links on blogs/journals or forums, but it would be nice if you dropped a line ne (^^)
If you want to share, please do it by linking to this journal or post in question directly, so people can also read all the details (there is a reason I write all that stuff).
If you want to simply quote something you read here, don't forget to mention where you got it from (^^)

>mirrors:
Please DO NOT upload my softsubs to other hosts. I'd rather not have mirrors. If for some reason you need to, please leave a comment explaining your situation.

>streaming sites:
This is a big no no. You should know by now. Absolutely not negotiable.

>hardsubs:
Please DO NOT use my softsubs to make hardsubs that you'll later distribute. If it's for personal use I don't mind.

>profit:
I do this for free, I don't get paid to do it. So, please don't use it for profit, and don't buy from those who sell.

>editing:
If you plan on editing any of my work, please do so for personal use ONLY -I can understand how annoying seeing errors can be while reading an article or watching a drama with softsubs. But please do not diffuse them as your own work (or mine, 'cause they wouldn't be anymore.. not entirely).
If editing, even if for personal use only, please DO NOT remove credits. Isn't it nice to remember where you got those in the first place? (^^)

>your creative side:
If you wish to use something you found in this journal for some project, please tell me about it first. Depending on how you plan on using my work, I will most probably agree. But still, please do drop me a message. It only takes a couple of minutes ^_^


Regarding softsubs released - file types:

-, .SRT: mainly for VLC users. Keep in mind it has no styling or text positioning whatsoever. I highly recommend the .ASS subs though; they're just.. nicer to see (^_^)
-, .ASS: this includes styling and text positioning (and other effects if I feel like it), and just looks better all in all. I've only tried this with Windows Media Player 11, Media Player Classic, and Zoomplayer (CCCP), and works perfectly with them.
[info]chaitanyadevana tells me .ASS works fine with GOM too.
[info]shihomi tells me .ASS works with Winamp + K-Lite codec pack too.

Ciao ^^. I'm Anjin. I found your Maou softsubs at D-addicts and I used them to make Spanish subs. At the beginning, they were intended to be for personal use only, but then I thought of posting them at a forum of my city -where people are asking for Spanish subs for that series- and at my LJ.

The thing is, I used your timing, karaoke, etc, I just translated the English into Spanish and changed the font and colour a bit.

Would you allow me to post them in some forums and my LJ? Of course, I didn't took off the credits, I just added my name where you originally wrote "I have no life!" -good one btw xD. I will also be linking them back to your LJ when suggesting for people to download the original subs in English ^^.

PS: I havent translated all since I started last night and I got sleepy xD, but I'm uploading the draft of it for you to see it and take a decision ^^...

just a couple of hours ago i replied to a person on d-addicts who'd asked me a few days ago to translate my subs to spanish. i told them it was ok. i don't know how spanish subs groups handle this sort of thing. maybe you guys can work something out, a collaboration of some sorts. the username is Noru. you can find the post at the bottom of page7 in the Mao thread ^_^

Oh! Grazie!! ^^ So you were ok with the credits and all? I think I'll just add my name in the typesetting for the little changes in fonts or so. But everything else will be just the same ^^.

I just saw Noru's message. I thought you wouldn't allow hardsubs oO. May I do hardsubs? I dont think I'll be working with someone else since I prefer to go my way, at my pace I mean ^^

If you allow me to make Spanish hardsubs, I'll do them ^^ But now I'll be just posting the softsubs -when they are complete of course xD

ah, the hardsubs were meant for the english version, since usually there's another group handling that -in this case STORMY team.

ah, since Naru is planning on doing hardsubs (which i had totally missed and am having second thoughts on) maybe you should stick to softsubs, no? at least people have both options ^__^

Io capisco un po'. Io ho studiato (?) Italiano, ma... That was a long time ago xD Ho... dimenticato... Or something like that xD

I want to learn Italian anyway, so I thought of dl softsubs if you have some, I havent check you LJ yet ^^

About the hardsubs. I thought of hardsubs thinking of the credits: Hardsubbed versions can't be changed. But if you are ok with the softsubs, I am none to complain xD Since you did almost everything xD

So, ?ll wait for the next reply as a last answer xD It'll depend on you saying:

Ok, do Spanish hardsubs, or no, just do softsubs.

Anyway, softsubs... Are easier to handle. I dont have to upload big files xDDDD

I'll be ok with either answer. Just let me know ^^

no worries. it's really up to you. i just thought that maybe since someone is already doing hardsubs, to avoid conflict you could do softsubs. but again, it's completely your choice, and how the spanish subs atmosphere is. i don't want to be caught in the middle of a fire, if you know what i mean ^^;;

as for italian subs, i'm currently working on yasuko to kenji with [info]nantokanarusa. we should be posting the first ep shortly ^__^

Oh, you meant as a fight oO Soka. I never thought so oO. I never think of fights, Im so peaceful *O* xDD I didnt think someone may get angry at it oO. I just thought of my own work and people who like hardsubs the most oO.

I am not into the subs world, so I didn't think there are arguments over the series or so oO Are there? xDDDD

It may be wuite funny, Ive seen different Eng Trans for the same series too oO So I didnt think it was a problem oO...

I'll think over it, because my subs are just going to be a translation of your subs. As I told you, everything else is yours as you noticed if you checked the subs I upped to you oO.

Well, having your permission for both is all I really care, so I'll take my decision based on that I'll guess oO.

I just hope we can "work together" on some other things as well. ^^

ah they're not really fights. every person / groups is free to do what they want. but i know that only for the english subs world. don't know if it works any differently for spanish ones.

i'm open for suggestions. though not for now, have too much on my plate already ^_^;;;

yasuken italian softsubs were just released at the comm and d-addicts forum ^_^ my friend, [info]loveandcoffee did a wonderful job at translating it ^_^
