Ah, I knew it. I just knew it !! ♥ *sigh*

Anyho, the past 2 days have been all rainy and stormy. And yesterday I saw.. an aiaigasa situation!! ah, they were cute (I think they were about 9 years old). The girl was holding the umbrella, but they weren't as close to each other as the kids in the PV, and I doubt there were any hidden feelings there. But still, the whole scene reminded me of aiaigasa, and that was enough for me ^_^

I did some good work today I think. But there's so much I need to fix in the document I wrote and I'm getting all agitated, wondering if I'll make it in time ><;

Heard of Miyazaki's new anime? Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Ponyo over the cliff) -to be screened sometime late July- talks about a little boy and a female goldfish that wants to become human. What's so amusing about that? The little boy is called.... Sosuke!!! XD Ah, now I feel sorry for every person that has that name ^_^;;

I always, for some reason or another, chose to kind of ignore celebrities' bdays. But today, first reading the umpteenth post covering the Korea incident including LJers getting a bit worked up over some racism nonsense, and immediately afterwards reading simple bday wishes, and then the nikki entry.. it all just got a few tears jerking up in my eyes (^///^) I love fans when they're in their cute fangirl mode (^^) I love everyone I met here thanx to that. And I love the wonderful person subject of this post.

I just watched the documentary (jounetsu tairiku) thanx to akirashocksubs. *tears* amazing. simply amazing. the man who can't fake a smile..

A couple of comments that may or may not be related to him XD

-, I found out that in Japan a certain phrase is often used.

「バカな子ほどかわいい」 (bakanako hodo kawaii)

which means, the more a child is baka, the more endearing s/he is (no, "kawaii" doesn't mean cute. Girls are cute, children are endearing ^^).
This was during yesterday's Japanese lesson. As soon as sensei said those words I started grinning, I was like, "oh yes, I totally understand that one!!!" XD Who was the first one that came on your mind as you read the phrase/translation ?!! XD

-, Tegoshi Yuya! I still can't get my feelings straight for this kid XD Anyho, this is not about me, but him. First I was convinced he was studying IT in uni I felt kinda special knowing that XD, then in news_jpop Most everyone was saying he's studying Psychology. "Eh? wasn't it IT?". The other day I was chatting with sakuraminamoto-chan about... all sortsa stuff XD and this came up. She confirmed that it is indeed IT !! _o_ More precisely, 人間科学部人間情報科学科（通信教育課程）. People! get your info straight before feeding me wrong VITAL information XD And picking up from her trail of thought, before one posts sth, I hope they'd double check their translations, ne ^^ (Aa~h she said that in a much more interesting way XD) I didn't even bother checking the info 'cause I trusted people's knowledge (^^;;) (note to self: from now on check up on everything.. or just ask Morita-chan; she knows everything XD)

Thank you Morita-chan ^^ Dude she's an amazing person. I barely know her, but I'm liking her more and more everyday ^^ *waves to Morita-chan* la prossima volta che sei a Firenze non vederci non è per niente ammissibile !!! -, Akai hana! ok I might be the last person in the fandom world to have realized this but.. Bambina totally recycled Akai hana's lyrics XD well a tiny part of em. What? no big deal, right. well, it just gave me a feeling like it was a standard phrase _o_ I didn't like that feeling. "yakedo mitaini jirijiri to kogasareta MY HEART" VS. "kokoro yakedo mitaini jiriri kogashiteru". so what? it happens all the time? true.. just that... that line is kinda.. for some reason, special to me ^^ When I translated Bambina, that chorus part was my favorite, it still is along with all the Tegoshi!moans XD.

Everytime I listen to "with me" I totally feel like they're singing that song to us. First time I felt that way I.. don't remember what I was doing, but suddenly there was this huge Yamapi picture staring at me right when the phrase, "stay with me", played in my headphones. For some reason, I just felt that moment freeze for a second, and my heart skip a beat. Then Tegoshi's line, "kimini aeru toki wo itsumo yume miteru yo". This sounds more like sth one of us would sing to one of them actually XD I highly doubt whoever wrote the song meant it like that, but inside my mind.. it's all it means ^^

Just an etymological curiosity.

矛盾

reading: mujun
meaning: contradiction; inconsistency
kanji:
-, 矛: (hoko, tokari) means long Chinese spear
-, 盾: (tate) means shield.

So, how is it that their combination gives the meaning of "contradiction"? O__O

According to a Chinese story, there was a merchant who sold spears that could pierce through ANY shield. The same merchant also sold robust shields that could not be penetrated. That's how it came to have that meaning XD


OT:
Yesterday I drooled over a 1TB external HDD that cost €170 (approx. $250). THAT is not normal XD (keep in mind that a 360GB external HDD goes around €80 (approx. $117). of course, my 500GB was totally special and I have no idea how I was able to actually find one at the price I paid -which I obviously can't remember XD).

I got this link from my wonderful Japanese language teacher Saito sensei. Many of my friends had the necessary packages installed, but didn't know how to use them, so here's a link where everything is explained. 日本語オーケー！
There's a step-by-step video for both Windows Vista and Windows XP. The audio is in Japanese, but the main points are also written on screen in English. It doesn't explain everything thoroughly (such as how to type を or　づ) but it's fun finding out the small tricks ^^. I still have to figure out how to write Diego in katakana though >__<

So that's about it. Well, my pc sometimes freaks out -as i keep switching between JP and EN, but have also enabled IT and AR. If that ever happens to you, just right-click and "Restore the language bar". That's fixed all the probs I've had till now ^^

JLPT results are knocking on everyone's door here.. finally!

so, what? "the face is wide"? NOPE; "he knows a lot of people"! quite interesting i must say.

another thing i really liked -read during yesterday's lesson- is: "tsukuranakereba naranaku narimashita". i guess this can't be classified as being a single word, but logically i figure it should be! it's simply a conjugation of the verb "tsukuru":
tsuku-ru = to make
tsuku-ranai = not make
tsuku-rana-kereba = if not make
tsuku-rana-kereba-naranai = if not make, not be of use = must make
tsuku-rana-kereba-naranaku-narimasu = to become that must make
tsuku-rana-kereba-naranaku-narimashita = it has become that must make

super cool ^^ i think a coupla hours would pass before i'd be able to put together sth like this during a conversation !

lately i've been getting really confused with languages! sometimes my first reaction to some situations comes in japanese.. the other day i wanted to say "zurui"! it took me a while to think of way to express what i was thinking in a language grandma would understand! another time i wanted to say "yowai" but i couldn't remember how to say it in italian ! i ended up saying it in english (thank God grandma knows english!).
yesterday,for some reason, i was thinking of how to say "eat lunch" in french. must have been sth i saw on TV. i was like, how do you say lunch in french? hirugohan.. no no, that's japanese.. lunch is similar to breakfast, and breakfast is... asagohan! no no no, that's still japanese! hmmm eat eat.. taberu. no... hmmmm, alors, on va manger le.. déjeuner! et petit déjeuner!! i remembered! i had to start a whole sentence in order to switch to french mode! i must say, my french is the language being most affected by this confusion! everytime i wanna think in French i end up saying things in Japanese!

"kao kase"; literally means, "lend me your face"; actually means, "i want to talk to you", kinda like seeing "chotto ii?", but in a more rude way i guess.

the Japanese language never seizes to amaze me! the most difficult part about it is to learn to think like the japanese.
